BIOGRAPHY:

A member of both the 2002 and 2006 US Olympic Teams, Teela’s career has spanned more than a decade of impressive finishes.  At the 2001 Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka, he finished 9th in the 10K Sprint, securing the highest finish in the World Championships by a US male biathlete since 1987.  At the 2002 Winter Games, he charged to a strong 14th-place finish and tied the United States' record in the men's 20-kilometer.  In 2009 a podium and the best result of his career, with a 3rd-place finish in the 20K Individual at the Vancouver World Cup.  With the stage set for 2010 Winter Games, Teela has his sights set on a medal and a repeat performance in Vancouver.

INTRODUCTION TO BIATHLON:

The winter wonderland of his youth in Anchorage, Alaska, served up the perfect environment for a young and competitive Jeremy Teela to hone his talents in outdoor pursuits.  Youngest of three sons, Teela had to fight to keep up with his older brothers as a competitive swimmer.  Later transitioning to cross-country skiing in high school, Teela quickly worked his way up through the Junior ranks to clinch the Junior National Championship in 1995.  His performance caught the attention of US Biathlon, where he was recruited to the Junior National Biathlon training camp in Jericho, Vermont.  And the rest, as they say, is history.
